| What is the STsxxxxT option? |
The temperature output option is an independent, isolated, 2-wire, 4-20 ma
transmitter that linearly outputs temperature in the same package (0-50 degrees
Celsius) as the water quality parameter specified in the part number prefix.
A temperature output option can be added to any of the basic
4-20 ma, water quality transmitters by adding a ' T
' as the suffix on the part number -- for example:
Conductivity (4-20 ma output), plus temperature
(4-20 ma output) is denoted as STs4xxxT.
Dissolved Oxygen, plus temperature is denoted as
STs6010T.
ORP ( redox ), plus temperature is denoted as
STs2010T.
pH, plus temperature is denoted as STs1010T.
Therefore, if a ' T ' suffix is specified, the sensor/transmitter will have two independent, and, isolated outputs. As an example, if the unit is the STs1010T, a 4-20 ma output will be transmitted proportional to the pH on the red and black wires (channel 1), and concurrently a 4-20 ma output proportional to the temperature will be transmitted on the orange and brown wires (channel 2). The transmitters are powered individually -- if pH is the only parameter of interest at the time -- power the red and black wires -- if temperature is the only parameter needed -- power the orange and brown wires.
The temperature output option should not be confused with 'automatic temperature compensation' which is a correction applied to each parameter, and is a standard feature on conductivity, dissolved oxygen and pH transmitters produced by pHionics.
