pHionics manufactures fully submersible (up to 200 feet), water quality transmitters that come in three primary versions. All of the versions share common components, such as replaceable electrodes and cables (33 feet standard -- optional lengths to 1000 feet). The materials from which they are constructed, are considered among the 'best of class' with respect to compatibility to hostile environments -- PVDF, 316SS, Teflon, and optional titanium, for example. 1) True two-wire (2-wire), water quality transmitters, with 4-20 ma outputs. See description 2) Self-powered water quality transmitters, with a self-contained, replaceable AA battery, and, a voltage output. These are ideal for monitoring with DVM's (digital voltmeters), or dataloggers that do not have sufficient programmable, turn-on time. These will typically last three to five years, with one, AA battery. See description 3) Externally powered, water quality transmitters, with a voltage output. These are ideal for use with most dataloggers that have an external power source, and/or programmable turn-on time. See description
These are available in isolated and non-isolated versions. They operate with power supplies from seven (7) to forty (40) volts dc. The isolated version is our most popular 4-20 ma output, because it works very well in tough industrial processes, as well as environmental applications, where the datalogger requires an earth ground (such as with the Campbell Scientific series of dataloggers). The other advantage of 4-20 ma transmission is that it exhibits excellent noise immunity, and it can transmit a non-degraded signal, several miles from the source. The low, seven volt power supply requirement, allows them to be powered from 12 volt batteries, for remote field applications. Refer to pricing to determine appropriate part number. A typical part number for an isolated pH transmitter would be the STs1014CiSs-0033.
These are ideal for use with dataloggers that do not have sufficient, programmable warm-up time, such as the HOBO series of dataloggers. They can alternatively be read directly with an inexpensive DVM (digital voltmeter), to allow portable troubleshooting in multiple locations. These transmitters contain a single, 3.6 vdc, AA battery that is easily replaced within fifteen seconds -- take off the cable -- slide the battery carriage out -- replace the battery -- slide it back in, and attach the cable. It is as simple as replacing the batteries in a flashlight. These are available in a variety of popular outputs, such as 0 to 1.00 vdc, 0 to 2.00 vdc, 0 to 2.50 vdc, 0.40 to 2.00 vdc, etc.). Refer to pricing to determine appropriate part number. A typical part number for a battery-powered pH transmitter would be the STs1014B1Ss-0033.
These water quality transmitters are ideal for use with most dataloggers that have an external power source, and/or programmable turn-on time -- such as the Unidata series of dataloggers. They are micro-powered, consuming less than 50 uamps, therefore, they use very little of the datalogger's power source -- allowing for long deployment in the field. These are available in a variety of popular outputs, such as 0 to 1.00 vdc, 0 to 2.00 vdc, 0 to 2.50 vdc, 0.40 to 2.00 vdc, etc.). Refer to pricing to determine appropriate part number. A typical part number for an externally powered pH transmitter would be the STs1014V1Ss-0033.
